Reporting Through an Agency
A model’s agency should be a real resource for reporting an uncomfortable or unsafe situation — consistent with the ethical agency standards covered elsewhere in this academy, a reputable agency takes a model’s safety concerns seriously and acts on them.
Reporting Through Industry Mechanisms Like RESPECT
For brands and businesses that have signed onto programs like RESPECT, the independent Standards Council provides a confidential complaint mechanism outside the immediate agency or client relationship — a real, accessible reporting path beyond internal channels alone.
The Right to Decline Without Justification
A model has the right to decline a booking, a specific request, or leave an uncomfortable situation without needing to provide extensive justification — personal safety and comfort are legitimate reasons on their own.
Documenting Concerning Incidents
Keeping a record of dates, details, and any communication related to a concerning incident supports a model if they do choose to report it formally — documentation, even if reporting happens later, genuinely helps.
