Swimwear & Fit Model Training

Fit modeling is a genuine, distinct profession — the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recognizes fit or fitting models as a specific category of modeling work, where a model tries on garments during the design and manufacturing process so a brand can evaluate fit, movement, and construction before mass production. This is fundamentally different from photographic or runway modeling: a fit model’s job is technical feedback, consistency, and precise body measurements, not posing for a camera.

This course covers what fit modeling actually involves, how it differs from other modeling categories, the technical vocabulary used in garment fitting sessions, working with designers and pattern makers, measurement consistency and stability, and how this specialty applies specifically to swimwear — a category with unique fit challenges (stretch, support, coverage) that make a reliable fit model especially valuable to a brand.
