Standard Size and Layout
The US industry standard comp card size is 5.5″ × 8.5″ — exactly half of a US letter sheet — while many international markets use A5. Some commercial-focused agencies use a smaller 4″ × 6″ format. Confirming an agency’s preferred size before printing avoids producing the wrong format.
Front Side: One Strong Hero Shot
The front of a comp card typically features a single, strong headshot or full-body shot — the model’s name and agency contact information usually appear here as well, making this the card’s first and most important impression.
Back Side: Range and Variety
The back typically shows three to five additional images demonstrating range — different looks, angles, or styles — alongside printed stats (height, bust/waist/hip measurements, shoe size, hair and eye color).
Print Quality Specifications
Images should be at least 300 DPI for print quality, and printed on 300–350 gsm coated stock for a professional, semi-glossy feel — lower resolution or flimsier paper stock reads as unprofessional even if the photos themselves are strong.
