Job Summary
We are looking for a knowledgeable and trend-focused Fashion Buyer to join our merchandising team. In this role, you will identify emerging fashion trends, select products and collections, negotiate with suppliers, and build assortments that maximize sales and profitability. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent business judgment, and a passion for fashion, luxury brands, and consumer trends.
As a Fashion Buyer, you will work closely with designers, merchandisers, marketing, inventory planning, and retail teams to ensure customers receive the right products at the right time while maintaining a competitive product assortment.
Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal buying strategies aligned with business goals.
- Research fashion trends, consumer preferences, and market demand.
- Select apparel, footwear, accessories, and fashion collections for retail or e-commerce.
- Build and manage product assortments for multiple categories.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and customer purchasing behavior.
- Forecast product demand and recommend replenishment strategies.
- Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and planning teams on product launches.
- Attend fashion shows, trade events, and vendor meetings to identify new products.
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotions, and industry trends.
- Maintain strong relationships with brands, vendors, and suppliers.
- Prepare buying reports, forecasts, and performance analyses for leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in fashion buying, merchandising, retail purchasing, or product management.
- Strong understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and retail operations.
- Experience analyzing sales reports and inventory performance.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and retail planning software.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in luxury fashion, apparel, or retail buying.
- Experience purchasing designer apparel, swimwear, accessories, or luxury products.
- Knowledge of merchandise planning and inventory forecasting.
- Experience with ERP, retail management, or inventory planning systems.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce merchandising strategies.
- Experience attending international fashion weeks and trade shows.
- Proven success increasing sales and gross margin through buying decisions.
